How do I import prior year's FanDraft settings?

There are two methods to importing your settings from last year's FanDraft.

  1. .fan Import: Very simple method / Most non-media league settings, team and league information, team and owner images are imported.
  2. .zip Import: More complicated method / All media and league settings, team and league information, team and owner images, team songs, and player media are imported.

Import xxx.fan league file (EASY):

  1. Select "FILE > IMPORT-EXPORT" from the File menu.
  2. Under the Import heading, click on the "v1X" FanDraft icon-button.
  3. Click on the "Import .fan file" button
  4. Select your prior year's FanDraft league file. FanDraft files are always XXX.fan (The XXX prefix is whatever you named the first upon first creation, and .fan is always the file extension).
  5. Your settings are now imported.

Import xxx.zip league file (More Difficult):

  1. Launch your prior year's FanDraft software.
If you don't have last year's FanDraft installed, login to your FSM account and redownload/reinstall it.
  2. Once last year's FanDraft is launched, make sure that the correct league file from last year is also open.
  3. Once both steps are done, select "FILE > EXPORT TRANSFER FILE".
This will create a file folder called "Transfer.zip".
  4. Close last year's version of FanDraft
  5. Launch the most recent version of FanDraft.
  6. Select "FILE > IMPORT-EXPORT" from the File menu.
  7. Under the Import heading, click on the "v1X" FanDraft icon-button.
  8. Click on the "Import .zip file" button.
  9. Select and the "Transfer.zip" file that you just created in last year's FanDraft.
  10. Your settings and media are now imported.

Tech Notes regarding "Team Songs":

Due to year-to-year incompatibility issues, Team Songs are incapable of being transferred.
However, access to these songs for reimporting can be found easily in one of two ways:

1) You can find prior year team songs in the prior year's FanDraft /media/audio folder.
2) You can find prior year team songs in the ZIP file folder that is exported.
